About the Festival
Pa Gya! A Literary Festival in Accra is a three day literary arts festival featuring activities such as readings, panel discussions, performances, book launches, literary prize awards, art talks, art and literary exhibitions, film screenings , and many more.
The festival engages all literary forms -- fiction, poetry, spoken word, comic and graphic novels, creative non-fiction and literary blogging. The festival also offers booksellers, publishers and independent authors space to showcase and sell their books.
Writers, poets, literary performers, academics, editors, illustrators, librarians, literary agents, bloggers and many other literary practitioners from Ghana, Africa, the Black Diaspora and all over the world find a welcoming space to showcase their works and fraternise during the festival.
Pa Gya! A Literary Festival in Accra (2024)
Over the past seven editions, Pa Gya! has brought the literary community in Ghana together and provided platforms for networking and initiatives.
The festival is organised by the Writers Project of Ghana, Goethe-Institut Ghana and the Foundation for Contemporary Art-Ghana, and has main sponsors Goethe-Institut Ghana and the European Union Delegation to Ghana. This year, the festival received support also from the Irish Embassy in Nigeria, the British Council, Kimo Ghana Ltd., C.Woermann Ghana Ltd. and Vidya Bookstores. Pa Gya! is also proud to be a partner to Bradford 2025 UK City of Culture.
We are happy to present the 2024 edition of the festival and plan an exciting and fulfilling celebration of literature and thought in Accra.
