Poetry Time at Goethe Abansoro with Sarpong Kumankoma and Hauwa Saleh Abubakar

For the month of March 2023, Goethe-Institut Ghana and Writers Project of Ghana are proud to present poets Sarpong Kumankoma and Hauwa Saleh Abubakar at Poetry Time at Goethe Abansoro, a themed poetry reading and conversation session. This is slated for Wednesday 1st March, 2023 at 7 PM GMT at the Goethe-Institut in Cantonments, Accra. You are cordially invited to this evening of poetry readings and discussion.

Hauwa Saleh Abubakar is a writer and performance poet. Her work has appeared in the She Said So anthology, The Weight of Years: An Afroanthology of Creative Non-fiction, Ake Review and more. Hauwa Saleh Abubakar is also the author of How to Practice Forgetting, a poetry collection that explores the world through the body.

Hauwa is currently a journalist for HumAngle and owns the tea brand Miamah's Cup of Wonders. She considers herself an accidental lawyer who aims to make people feel 'something' with her works.

Sarpong Kumankoma was the inaugural recipient of the Kofi Awoonor Literary Prize in 2016. He has since been published in several anthologies, most recently in the maiden anthology of the Samira Bawumia Literary Prize, All Ghana A Stage (2021) and Resilience: A Collection (2021).
