Author for July -- Nana Ofosuaa Ofori-Atta Ayim

Writers Project of Ghana and the Goethe Institute, Accra present Nana Ofosuaa Ofori-Atta Ayim as the author for the month of July.

Nana Ofosuaa Ofori-Atta is a writer, film-maker and art historian. Her first novel, The God Child, is set to be published in 2018 by Bloomsbury Publishers. She is also the founder of the ANO Institute of Contemporary Arts.

Nana Ofosuaa received in 2015 the Art & Technology Award and the 2016 AIR award, and has had writing residencies in Benin, Norway, Senegal, Ethiopia and France. She has written for publications such as frieze, Manifesta, Kaleidoscope, and African Metropolitan Architecture. She has published her fiction in magazines like Petunia and, inspired by classical Akan performative storytelling forms, has performed it in collaboration with musicians such as Socrates That Practices Music at Vela Gallery, London; with choreographers like Eva Recacha at The Place Theatre, London; and artists like Lydia Gifford at the Hay-on-Wye Literary Festival.

Nana Ofosuaa Ofori-Atta Ayim studied Russian Literature and Politics at Bristol University. She has an MA in African Art History and an MPhil in African Languages and Cultures from SOAS, University of London.

She will be reading from her multi-lingual story The Tightrope Walker in English and Twi (with poet Nana Nyarko Boateng) and from her forthcoming book The God Child with music from DJ Keyzuz.
