Writer for August - Ruby Goka

Writers Project of Ghana presents as guest writer for the month of August, Dr. Ruby Goka, dentist and award-winning author.

Ruby is the author of five children’s books, two of which — ‘The Mystery of the Haunted House’, and ‘The Lost Royal Treasure’ — won the third and second prizes in the 2010 and 2011 competitions of the Burt Award For African Literature.

Ruby not only writes for children, but also for an adult readership. Her books, ‘In the Middle of Nowhere’ and ‘Disfigured’, have been published by Kwadwoan Publishing in Accra.

Ruby Goka was born in Accra, Ghana and was educated in Ethiopia and Ghana. She is a dentist at the District Hospital in Sogakofe in the Volta Region of Ghana.

This reading series is organised in collaboration with the Goethe Institute, Accra, and offers the opportunity to meet and interact with Dr. Ruby Goka. There will be a short discussion session after the readings.
