Poetry Time at Goethe Abansoro with Hondred Percent and Nii Amartey Amarteifio

For the July edition of Poetry Time at Goethe-Abansoro, Goethe-Institut Ghana and Writers Project of Ghana present poets Hondred Percent and Nii Amartey Amarteifio in readings and conversation on Wednesday 5th July 2023 from 7 PM GMT at the Goethe-Institut in Cantonments, Accra.

Hondred Percent is a storyteller that writes poetry and raps emotion. He is the founder of the Lorgorligi Locomotion Poetry Show #LLPS, a monthly poetry event that happens every 2nd Friday of each month at Kukun, Osu. He is also a published author of a poetry book, a two time Ehalakasa SLAM Champion and has an album and EP available on all major streaming platforms. He is a lover of baseball caps, sunglasses and hakamas and currently working on a new studio album to be released later this year.

Nii Amartey Amarteifio is a lawyer by profession, an artist by inheritance and a style icon by general consensus. Being the son of renowned Ghanaian artist and writer, Amarkine Amarteifio, Nii Amartey’s exposure to art begun from childhood and has remained with him to date.

An avid reader, Nii Amartey embarked on his poetic journey from primary school and has honed his literary skills with the effluxion of time. Presently, he is a member of a trio of poets “Ars Poetica” and the group has held several shows in Ghana. Additionally, Nii Amartey has performed on various media platforms including radio, television and at Rotary Club meetings.

Nii Amartey likes to identify as a painter, who, unlike orthodox painters, uses words as his medium, to paint pictures on the canvasses of the minds of his audience. When he’s not buried nose deep in law reports, Amartey’s artistic tendencies awaken and find expression in his unparalleled sense of fashion. He is a lover of culture, witty wordplay and advocacy, with a literary style that is best described as unorthodox.

He loves culture and in his words, “More than being African with puns, he is Pun African”
